Background

Nelson Bay Golf Club is located in the Port Stephens area and is a 27 hole championship golf course by the sea. Located in the heart of Nelson Bay and with easy access from Sydney, it is easily accessible and ideal for short breaks or extended golfing holidays.

The Club boasts a natural setting with native flora and an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and native birds as well as showcasing phenomenal headland views.

A members’ club with a special charter, to ensure the course is open every day to the thousands of visitors to Port Stephens each year. Nelson Bay is one of the busiest golf venues in the country, ranked in the top 50 courses in Australia for rounds costing under $50.

The Club approached Engineroom when they managed to get back in operation with a temporary food and beverage facility after a devastating Clubhouse fire. While building new premises, the team felt it was an opportune time for new branding and updating the image of the club. The primary objective was to increase bookings for Corporate Functions and Wedding Functions and as a destination for families with the club restaurant, gaming area and special kids play area in the beautiful location with modern new premises. The golf course is also unique in that it has a strong kangaroo population and leveraging tours was was raised as an opportunity for future growth.

The existing branding was dated and lacked relevance to the new modern facilities.

The Flag obviously represent the golf tees and are a nod to Augusta GC. the water and dolphin are a nod to the area and the two mountains are a nod to the Tomaree Headlands close by.

The team had no ties to the existing branding and wanted NBGC to feel more premium-lifestyle driven. Their only request was consideration of the Tomaree Headlands.
