In 2010 ENGINEROOM were successfully appointed as the agency to redesign Newcastle Airport's website after a comprehensive creative, credentials and capabilities tender.
Completing an extensive review of existing site analytics, The Agency designed and developed a new website for Newcastle Airport which simplified access to high traffic pages, separated the Corporate and Traveller messages and modernised the site in line with their latest corporate image.
The site development included complex system integrations including; a car park calculator, live feed from FIDS, Expedia Flight Booking widget and Vroom Rental Car Widget.
The Car park calculator was built using PHP and javascript, to provide passengers the opportunity to review accurate pricing options, for all car parking facilities available at Newcastle Airport.
A system was built to display a virtual version of The Airports FIDS (flight information display system) allowing passengers to access real-time arrival and departure flight information from the Newcastle Airport website.
In 2015 with the completion of The Mercure Hotel on site at Newcastle Airport, The Agency developed the virtual FIDS schedule to display the live-feed from the website to TV screens within the Hotel's Reception.
Two websites were developed - a desktop site which also considered the tablet format and a stand alone mobile site which only contained content relevant to users on the go, enhancing the mobile experience.
Originally two websites were developed - a desktop site which also considered tablet format and a stand alone mobile site which only
contained content relevant to users on the go, enhancing the mobile experience. In line with website trends, in 2015 the site was
adapted to a single responsive website optimised for desktop, tablet and mobile browser sizes.
Since 2010 we have continued to manage the site for Newcastle Airport, working with their marketing, operations and IT teams to
maintain and update the website content and functionality.
In my role as Marketing and Communication Manager at Newcastle Airport, I worked with Engineroom Design for almost a decade. During this time Engineroom evolved the look and feel of the Newcastle Airport brand, keeping it fresh and on-trend, while maintaining brand integrity. Engineroom continued to delight with the work they produced—be it for corporate branding or developing creative for campaigns and promotions across multiple platforms including television, outdoor, press, digital, social, and bespoke print publications. I highly value the team's creativity, a can-do attitude, ability to deconstruct a brief and think five steps ahead of me, and their swift turnaround times and responsiveness. They are a true business partner.
